The type of personal information we collect

We currently collect and process the following information:

  • Personal identifiers, contacts and characteristics (for example, name and contact details)
  • Breathing session data: This includes raw microphone data, accelerometer data, facial tracking data, spirometry data, respiratory inductance plethysmography data.
  • Demographic data: Including age, sex, smoking history, ethnicity, height, weight, and level of fitness. These data will not be identifiable to you and will be stored securely.

How we get the personal information and why we have it

We will only gather data following your informed consent to take part in a research study. This will involve you talking through the study with a researcher, who will answer any questions you have..

We use the information that you have given us in order to analyse breathing data, calibrate and validate phone sensor datasets, and train machine learning models for respiratory health evaluation.

We may share this information within the teams of Pi-a Creative Systems, but will never share or sell your data to any external partt.

Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the lawful bases we rely on for processing this information are:

  • (a) Performance of a task in the public interest
  • (b) Informing future scientific research

How we store your personal information

Your information is securely stored at Pi-a Creative Systems.

We keep your breathing and demographic data for the duration of the research project. We will then dispose of your information by securely deleting all personal and session data 120 days after the completion of the project.

Your data protection rights

Under data protection law, you have rights including:

  • Right of Access: You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information.
  • Right to Rectification: You can ask us to correct inaccurate data.
  • Right to Erasure: Ask us to delete your data under certain circumstances.
  • Right to Restriction of Processing: Ask us to restrict processing under certain circumstances.
  • Right to Object to Processing: Object to processing under certain conditions.
  • Right to Data Portability: Ask for the transfer of your data.
